back

Just got back from an extremely awesome-filled thanksgiving weekend composed of my favorite things: friends, family, good food and cute animals.

Stuck pretty well with my shopping ban, I only bought one thing while I was in the city (and H&M blazer for %50 off). I did receive a whole lot of goodies from my grandmother though (she gives me tons of her old clothing and jewlery from when she was younger). The gifts this time included an amazingly soft faux fur jacket, and gorgeous cocktail ring and a pretty necklace. Will show them in the next post.

I also had the chance to see the one republic concert while they were in NYC. Though I wasn't really a fan of them before the concert (I only went because my friend had an extra ticket, and the Hush Sound was opening for them (I'm kind of obsessed with them)) I must admit that they were awesome live. We were also thisclose to them. Pretty cool.

PS. I (reluctantly) got a haircut. I miss my long hair, but the ends were getting way too damaged/dry/split-endish. I feel slightly less feminine. :(

Hope everybody had a good weekend! Happy belated thanksgiving :]

costal

I'll be gone for a few days. Going to NYC to spend some time with family and friends for thanksgiving.

I'm trying to save up for a kickass leather jacket. However, I'm sure new purchases are going to be inevitable.

I'm in a rush, so I'll leave you guys with some pictures of my (and everybody else on the blogsphere's) new girl favorite girl crush.

I really wish I was in california right now.

layers

Coat: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Skirt, shirt: AA, Belt, Blazer: F21, Tights: UO, Shoes: TJ maxx

It's so damn cold in new jerseys. Like, upper 20s. I'm serious.

The coat is pretty warm. It's one size fits all, so it's pretty big on me. Looking for some perfect elbow length (cashmere?) opera gloves to wear with them once it gets colder (if that's possible).

Looking forward to some warmer weather (high of 48 later this week. YES). I go on weather.com way too much.

P.S. Only 4 days until the Mongolian lamb fur vest and H&M leather jacket end. The doc martens have been sold, and will be making their way to their new owner in California shortly :)

stuff for sale :)

New M x MJ coat I bought for super cheap (it's actually a cape/poncho). Broke my shopping ban, oops. :(

I really need better lighting.

On a side note, I'm selling my doc martens, white fuzzy vest (you can see them in earlier posts) as well as my H&M leather jacket on ebay. Go check them out if you're interested! I ship internationally :]

coming soon.

If you were readers of my old blog, I'm sure you all know that I had intentions of creating an online store. I kept postponing the launch date because 1) i'm so incredibly busy and 2) i got kind of lazy :x

Not to fear. I'm hoping to launch the site within the month (I promise, forreal this time!).

i feel like the boy who cried wolf.

Here are some looks in the lookbook, modeled by a friend.

A definitive launch date is to be announced soon. Stay tuned! :]

ps. I've made a decision about the bal. I think I'm going to hold up on buying one until next april-june ish, perhaps as a birthday/graduation present for myself. Thank you guys so much for your input, I really appreciate it :D

the balenciaga question

Ever since I could remember, I've always wanted a Balenciaga bag. To me, it's the perfect balance of grunge/ rock and roll and chicness.

Asking my parents to buy me it would be absolutely out of the question (in fact, I feel guilty asking my parents to buy me anything other than food/school related things). However, now that I've started working, I'll be able to buy it myself.

The price is pretty hefty, $1,095.00 to be exact. To most people, that might not be a lot of money, but to a 17 year old student that's a LOT (about two months worth of paychecks). This money could go to a lot of better things, like say for instance a new macbook or like, uh COLLEGE.

So what do you guys think? Should I buy it? Do you think it has reached the iconic "timeless bag" title, or do you think I'll regret purchasing it (if I do) ten years from now? Is the "it" bag dead?

Ah. What should I do?

111008

I know my pictures have been complete crap lately. I blame this entirely on bad lighting (damn you daylight savings :| ) and my utter lack of photography skills. Because I had no work today, I decided to go around my house in search of better lighting. All efforts were completely trumped, and I ended up taking pictures of my cat (who is a billion times cuter and more photogenic).

The second picture originally came out pitch dark. Since it was the only full-length picture I had, I decided to lighten it in photoshop, hence the horrendous quality.

Yes, I am sitting on top of a washing machine. Yes, those are bras. No, they're not mine.

She's a hoot, I swear.

mixed media

Friend #1 Reaction: You look like an Olsen twin gone horribly, horribly wrong.
Friend #2 Reaction: Actually, I think you look more like a pimped out yeti today.

I love my friends.

Vest: Ebay, Sequined Shirt: Vintage, Triblend Sweater/Lame Leggings/Bag: AA, Boots: Nine West

Today's outfit was inspired by the rebel chic editorial in Harper Bazzar UK's nov 08 issue.

Mmm. So good. Need me a beanie like that.

P.S. I'm going on a shopping ban until the year is over (which, technically is 2 months. But that's a long time for me. Ha.). Let's see how this turns out.

gaudy.

I'm planning on re-launching my vintage site pretty soon. These will be for sale.

Bam Bam Bow Frock - $28
Encrusted Sequined Jacket - $42

How completely redic is this dress? Its covered in a psychedelic bow pattern and topped off with a lace collar. I kind of love it. And don't get me started on the sequined jacket.

Making progress on the studded bag.

shredded

What I've been doing for the last couple of days. Ideally, I want to shred the entire right portion, sleeve and all.

Originally, I was wearing a slouchy green beanie a la A. Wang. I opted for a headband after my friend told me I was dressed exactly like a homeless person he had befriended on 2nd avenue. He calls himself Bubba (the homeless guy, not my friend).

Jeans: Trash and Vaudeville, Tee: Hanes DIY, Headband: UO, Bandeau: AA, Bag: Vintage Chanel, Shoes: Nine West

The jeans are from Trash and Vaudeville. You can't really see it, but they have this waxed zebra print pattern all over them. They're like the more subdued cousin of the balmains I've been lusting over.

If you've never been to Trash and Vaudeville, and are in/going to be in the NYC region, definitely be sure to check it out. Jimmy (the owner) is seriously the sweetest man ever, hands down.

I wear these boots too much.

today, history has been made

Wore this to school before I went out to canvass for the Obama campaign.

Tomorrow we're going to have a new president. Weird.

lazy sundays

Did absolutely nothing today (except work on this shredded T, a la Camille). I forgot how much fun doing nothing was.
